REVIEW:

Alright folks...hopefully you've already read my review of the Halloween film, because I'm not going in depth in this on. This is strictly for the extended edition of the film, and more importantly, the deleted scenes.

In 1981, right in time for the release of the sequel. The TV networks realized, that after they cut out what they deemed too violent for television, there wasn't enough movie left to fill the time slot. So John Carpenter went back and shot some new scenes to put in place of the cut material.

First we get a scene where Dr. Loomis is talking to a panel of doctors about Michael, where he is trying to convince them that he is not what he appears to be. Michael is still a child at this point. Loomis then proceeds to go into Michael's room and has a one-sided conversation with the boy.

The next additional scene is a scene where a nurse leads Dr. Loomis to Michael's room, telling him who was supposed to have been watching the patients. Once they arrive in Michael's room, she tells him he must have broken the window glass with his bare hands. They then glance over on the wall, and see that he has written in blood the word "sister".

The last big addition is a scene where Lynda visits Laurie Strode at home and borrows a blouse just as Annie calls trying to borrow the same blouse.

There is also a single shot of Michael alone in his cell.

There isn't a lot to talk about. This was a sought after edition to horror fans, and it later paid off when you were able to actually by this version on DVD. But in all actuality...the scenes are are pretty useless. They are literally time fillers in ever sense of the word. So much so, that now, when they show this film on network television...they omit these scenes all together, and just show the original movie.

But they are a nice edition put into the actual film as a whole, just to give the viewer a more complete feel to it. And it really plays nicely to go along with Halloween II.

So, unless you are a die hard Halloween fan, I think you are safe to avoid this film. Because when the push comes to shove, you really aren't missing too much. But it is a must own for any Halloween collector out there. And yes folks...it is now available on Blu-ray as well.

Till Next Time Kiddies...
